"Here Comes the Weekend" is the highly anticipated second collaboration between P!nk and Eminem, following the song "Won't Back Down from Eminem's album Recovery. "Here Comes the Weekend" appears on P!nk's sixth studio album, The Truth About Love.
The song was leaked a few days before the album's release and received a good amount of radio airplay. The song received mixed reviews, as some critics found it "classic P!nk" while others found Eminem's contribution to the song weak. The song is four minutes and twenty-four seconds.
"Here Comes the Weekend" was planned to be released as the first single from the album, but was scrapped in favor of "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)." Because of this, it received some radio airplay prior to the album's release, causing speculation that it would receive a future single release, although it never did. "Here Comes the Weekend" is also only one of two songs (the other being "Where Did the Beat Go?") from the standard edition of The Truth About Love that were never performed live.
P!nk revealed to Australia's Herald Sun that the pair decided to collaborate organically without fussing over contracts and just entered the studio to record the track. "He said, 'Do you want to do a song with me?' 'Fuck yeah!' I said, 'Do you want to do a song with me?' and he said, 'Fuck yeah!' Handshake. Nothing signed. Done," she recalled.
P!nk spoke to Spotify about the song and stated, "This is a song that found me, uh... through Eminem, actually, he found this song for us, and I did a song with him on his last record, and the... the friendship swap was that he would do it on mine, and I'm... I've always been a huge Eminem fan, and I think he's a brilliant lyricist. He makes me laugh. And... I'm stoked that he's on my album." She further described it as "a fun song."
In a live chat with fans on the day of the album's release, P!nk was asked what it was like working with Eminem. She replied, "Eminem is a genius. He's brilliant. I think he's hilarious. I love him. I think he's just one of the most wonderful lyricists of all-time, and I'm just pretty stoked that whole thing went down."
