Nate Ruess is the lead vocalist of the pop-rock/alternative band fun., famous for their song "We Are Young". He collaborated with P!nk on the fourth track from her sixth studio album (titled The Truth About Love), "Just Give Me a Reason". It was the first of three collaborations on the album, the other two being the songs "True Love" (featuring Lily Rose Cooper) and "Here Comes the Weekend" (the highly anticipated second collaboration between P!nk and Eminem).

P!nk spoke about the collaboration on VH1 Storytellers and referred to Nate as "an angel" and spoke of how much she enjoyed his voice (making reference to the band's smash hit "We Are Young"; P!nk went on to sing one of the lines from the song). After talking about how they wrote the song and P!nk planned to "trick" Nate into singing it with her, she invited him up on stage to perform the song with her for the very first time live.

A pre-recorded video of Ruess singing his part of "Just Give Me a Reason" was featured on P!nk's The Truth About Love Tour, being that he could not be there in person. The performance was considered to be one of the highlights of the tour.
